Publicist Arlington, Virginia’s Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre is seeking a dynamic Publicist with strong communications strategy, media relations and writing skills to join its Marketing and Communications team. The main responsibilities of this position are to write press releases, pitch creative stories to local and national media, set up media interviews, develop new media contacts, maintain the media database, field press inquiries, and act as the liaison to the press for the Theatre. Other duties include coordinating press nights and following up with reviewers, working with videographers and photographers to record productions for press and historical purposes, and maintaining photo, video and press clipping archives. The ideal candidate would have three to five years experience in public relations for an arts organization. Job requirements: the demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely on theater topics, to think strategically, to manage multiple projects and to successfully engage media interest to raise visibility for the Theatre. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills are also important for this position. Some evening and weekend hours are required.
